Đoković: My game was flawless

Đoković: My game was flawless

The best tennis player in the world, Novak Đoković, managed to go through to the semi-finals of the Belgrade Open with dominant play.

After only 55 minutes of play, he beat Argentina’s Federico Coria 6:1, 6:0.

“This is an ideal form and I always want to play like this but that simply isn’t possible. Still, it definitely helps me feel good on the court. I played against him for the first time and I tried to impose an aggressive style from the beginning and not let him get into his rhythm. In the second set, I played flawlessly and that motivates me to continue with the tournament and go to Paris,“ said Novak.

According to some sources, Naomi Osaka announced that she will not give statements to the media at Roland Garros in order to protect her mental health.

“I don’t know what to think about that, she probably has her reasons. I don’t know what are the WTA and Grand Slam rules on that matter, nor whether or not they will punish her for that. Conferences can be unpleasant and you don’t always enjoy them, especially when you lose, but they come with the job. We have to do that or they will punish us, at least that is the case with men,“ no.1 on the ATP list explained.

The current ATP schedule suggests that the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai and Indian Wells should be played one after the other, which is not an ideal situation for Novak.

“A lot of players like to play in both Shanghai Masters and Indian Wells Masters. Those are well-organised tournaments, but they take place in opposite parts of the world. If you take part in Shanghai Masters and reach the final, then, after two days, you should participate in Indian Wells Masters. I believe that the players will choose one of those two tournaments, provided the schedule is set up like that. I’m still not sure what tournament I’ll choose after the US Open.“
